GENERAL PRESENTATION

We officially entered in our new school on Wednesday 28th of April  2010 with the presence of the Ambassador of France.

Most of the buildings are finished but some parts (gymnasium, sport fields, flats...) are still under construction.

The 2009/2010 year has just ended. See you all when the school resumes on Thursday 2nd of September at 8am...

French school

The school is located in Abuja, the new capital, in the centre of Nigeria.
The new site of the school is located in an area still undre construction a bit outside the town.

It is a non profit and non-denominational school.
There are 270pupils and students whom 20% are of French nationality and citizens of more than 20 other countries.

Programs:

The school is approved by  the French Ministry of National education and subsidized by the French Government.
It follows the French  National Education syllabus.
Students from the school can be enrooled in any official school in France as well as in any other French school around the world.
Courses are taught in French.

English courses are also widely provided. Children are not required to speak French if they start at the nursery level
Non francophone pupils can get extra French courses.

Timetable:

- 26 hours a week
-All the students come to school from Monday to Friday
     - In the morning from  8
.30am to 11.30am
   
 - In the afternoon from 1.30pm to 4.30pm (except aged2 level, school only in the morning)
- No class on Wednesday
s afternoons for the nursery and primary sections.

The timetable has changed since September 2009:
- Primary: From 8am to 2.15pm, except Wednesdays and Fridays when the class will end at 12.45am
- Secondary: From 8am to 12am then from 1pm to 4pm

Courses:

- Direct courses
provided both by expatriate teachers assigned by the French Government and other locally-hired experimented francophone teachers. each grade has a limited  number of students for a better efficiency.
Existing grades are:

Nursery section: 4 levels, from aged 2 (maternity) to aged 5 (kinder garden).

- P
rimary: 5 levels, from aged 6 (1st grade) to aged 10 (5th grade)

Junior secondary section: courses taught by skilled teachers and coaches, with the support of the CNED (National Center for Distance  Education) in France.

Since September 2009, 2 new professional teachers from France have been heading the 1st 2 levels of the Secondary section.
2 other teachers from France will come in Sept. 2010...

School fees in 2009 - 2010:

- 1st enrolment fee : 1000 Euros

- Annual school fees:

    - French nationality:
                 160 500 Naira and 2 570 Euros (Primary)
                
190 000 Nairasand 3 040 Euros (Secondary)

    - Other nationalities:
                  176 500 Nairas and 2 830 Euros (Primary)
                 
207 000 Nairas and 3 350 Euros (Secondary)

(Children in TPS pay only half of the rates written above)

- School fees have to be paid in 3 parts: 50%, 30 and 20%
